Viva Magenta! Live pink this year with Pantone’s colour of the year. Sisters, we’ve waited a long time for bold pinky-red to be part of our home décor scheme and the time has finally arrived. But how do you introduce such a bold colour scheme to your home?

Viva Magenta

Powerful and Joyful. That’s the theme for the year and Pantone named Viva Magenta as the colour that sums it right up. Bring a little powerful joy into your home, without creating an assault on the senses. Want a little Viva Magenta on the walls? You’ll need Dulux’s Murray Red, or if you’re after a pinkier version (colour looks a little different on walls) talk to your hardware store about a custom blend. You’ll need the hex code for Viva Magenta - #BE3455 (R-190, G-52, B-85) and some big bold ideas!

Keep your neutrals in place – add a touch of joy

Keeping neutrals in place makes it simple to redecorate next season and it allows for bold statement pieces without overwhelming the eye. Change up your art, cushions and if you’re feeling especially powerful and joyful, choose a signature piece of furniture or a rug to bring it altogether.

Textured Feature Wall

If you’re going to have a feature wall, it might as well be a feature. A single backdrop to neutral furniture in a well lit, airy space transforms a dull, neutral room into something a little more joyful. With textures and pattern brushes available, talk to your painter or decorator about how to make your new feature wall truly pop.

Viva the Colour

Live it. Own it. Make it yours. Mixing neutrals and bold colour statements makes for a quirky and unique home décor scheme. This approach only works with bold colour. No point adding a washed out grey or soft blue – this approach needs total impact. And, Viva Magenta is 100% impact.

Can we finally pack up and leave the Hamptons?

Bold pink hasn’t been the go-to for home décor since the 80s. We’ve been afraid. For the past several years homeowners have stuck to the conservative colours of Hamptons décor. Greys, whites, soft blues, all the most conservative colours of home décor. It’s time to live a little. It’s time to embrace joy. It’s time to embrace your inner power. It’s time to unleash the pink.
